Short Description The Inspection Window is the main detail view for any plan object — Plan, Campaign, Program, Tactic, Line Item, or Purchase Request. This article tours its structure.
What this article answers
- How to open an Inspection Window.
- The tabs you'll see and what each holds.
- Where workflow, history, and related info live.
What the Inspection Window is
The Inspection Window is Hive9's detail view for any plan object. When you click a Plan, Campaign, Program, Tactic, Line Item, or Purchase Request from a grid, the Inspection Window opens to show that object's full record.
It's where you'll spend most of your time when working on individual objects — editing attributes, submitting for approval, reading audit history, and viewing related information.
Common tabs
The Inspection Window organizes information into tabs. The exact tabs depend on the object type, but you'll typically see:
Overview / Details
The main attributes — name, dates, owner, status, approval workflow, standard attributes, and your instance's custom attributes. Required attributes are marked with an orange asterisk (these are required to submit for approval, not to create the record).
Budget / Costs
- Planned Cost and Actual Cost (where applicable).
- For Tactics: a list of Line Items with their allocations.
- For Plans/Campaigns/Programs: roll-up totals from children.
Performance / Measure
KPI values — responses, MQLs, SQLs, closed deals, pipeline. Includes target and actual columns where your instance configures them.
Approval Tracking
The approval pipeline for this object — who needs to approve, who has approved, and when. Generated when the object is submitted under an active workflow.
Audit / History
A log of changes to the object — who changed what, when, and the prior vs. new values.
Related
Related plans, tactics, or other linked records.
Where to look for specific things
| Looking for | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Who owns this tactic? | Overview tab → Owner field |
| Why can't I save? | Check Overview tab for required attributes with no value (orange asterisk). Check Approval Workflow attribute for inactive/deleted references. |
| What was this attribute before someone changed it? | Audit / History tab |
| Who approved this and when? | Approval Tracking tab |
| Where are the Line Items? | Budget / Costs tab |
| What plan does this belong to? | Overview tab → look for the parent hierarchy breadcrumb |
Required vs. optional fields
Fields marked with an orange asterisk are required for submitting the object for approval — not for creating it. You can create a draft Tactic with most fields empty; you only need to fill the required ones before you can advance it through the approval workflow.
Saving changes
Most Inspection Windows have a Save button at the bottom or top. Hive9 doesn't auto-save — if you close the window without saving, your changes are lost. A warning prompts you if you try to navigate away from unsaved changes.
Common questions
Why are some fields read-only? Either you don't have edit permission for this object, or the object is in a status that locks the field (for example, certain attributes lock once approval is in progress).
Can I customize which tabs I see? Tabs are controlled at the instance configuration level. Individual users can't add or remove tabs, but admins can configure them per object type.
Where do screenshots in the Quick View popup come from? The Quick View popup (which appears when you hover or click a tactic in the Calendar view) shows a subset of attributes configured by your admin under Theme → Calendar Popup Custom Attributes.
