Custom Dashboards

Short Description Beyond the standard dashboards, Hive9 supports custom dashboards built for your specific reporting needs. This article covers the basics and when to engage support.

What this article answers

  • What custom dashboards can do.
  • How they're built and maintained.
  • The engagement model with your Hive9 customer team.

What a custom dashboard is

A custom dashboard is a Hive9 dashboard tailored to your organization's specific questions — beyond what the standard dashboards answer. Custom dashboards can:

  • Combine Plan and Measure data in non-standard ways.
  • Surface custom attributes as primary segments.
  • Use your organization's preferred attribution model as default.
  • Display metrics with custom calculations.
  • Build views aligned to your executive reporting templates.

How custom dashboards are built

Custom dashboards are typically built by Hive9's customer team in collaboration with your stakeholders. The process:

  1. Requirements gathering — what question is this dashboard answering, for whom, and how often?
  2. Data design — which Plan and Measure data needs to feed the dashboard? Are integrations in place?
  3. Build — Hive9 builds the dashboard against your instance's data.
  4. Review and iteration — you preview and request changes.
  5. Publish — the dashboard becomes available to permissioned roles in your instance.

Engaging for a custom dashboard

To request a custom dashboard, work with your CSM or contact Support with:

  • The business question(s) the dashboard should answer.
  • The audience (executive, marketing ops, finance, regional leadership).
  • The cadence of review (weekly, quarterly, ad-hoc).
  • Reference examples — screenshots of dashboards you've seen elsewhere or sketches of layouts.
  • Required data sources — note any integrations or attributes that need to be in place.

The more specific the brief, the faster the build.

Maintenance considerations

Custom dashboards aren't static. Things that can affect them over time:

  • Custom attribute changes — renaming or removing an attribute can break a dashboard that filters or segments on it.
  • Integration changes — re-configuring an integration can change the data feed.
  • Tactic Type or Model changes — Models that change can shift how tactics are categorized.

Discuss these changes with your CSM before making them, especially if you know a custom dashboard depends on them.

Common questions

Can I edit a custom dashboard myself? Usually no — custom dashboards are built by the Hive9 team and updated through them. Some instances expose limited self-service tools.

Can I duplicate a custom dashboard? Duplication isn't generally available to end-users. Ask Support if you need a variant.

How many custom dashboards can I have? There's no hard limit, but each one is a build effort. Most organizations have 3–10 custom dashboards in active use.

Can a custom dashboard combine my data with external data? Hive9 can sometimes consume integrated data alongside its native data. Talk to your CSM about specific external sources.
