Short Description Organizational Setup is the catch-all area for instance-wide settings — Budget Configuration, Custom Goals, Workflow toggles, AOP, hierarchy naming, and more. This article tours each setting.
What this article answers
- What lives under Organizational Setup.
- What each setting controls.
- Which changes are audit-logged.
Where to find it
Settings → Organizational Setup. The page groups instance-level configuration.
Budget Configuration
Toggle Plan Budget on/off for the instance. Changes are recorded in the audit log.
See Plan Budget — overview and when to use it and Plan Budget vs Finance Budget — which one am I looking at?
User Category Attribute Options
Classifies users into categories. Categories can flow into automatic inheritance across Hive9 entities (Plans, Campaigns, Programs, Tactics, Line Items owned by users).
- Add New Option — create category.
- Edit / Delete icons — modify or remove.
- Save.
User Category dependencies with other custom attributes are configured via your CSM. All changes are audit-logged.
Assign categories from My Account (self) or Settings → Users → User Category dropdown (other users).
Use Planned Cost as Actual Cost
For organizations without financial integration. When enabled, ROI and other Actuals-dependent calculations use Planned Cost as a stand-in for Actual Cost. Useful as a temporary measure while integration is being set up.
Custom Goals
Create org-level Goals that can be added to Plans and the Tactics within them.
Fields:
- Goal Code — 4-character identifier.
- Goal Name.
- Goal Type — defines the entry format. Percentage goals are NOT totaled or averaged (percentages aren't additive).
- Description.
After creation, add the goal to a Plan, then choose values on the Tactics within the Plan.
Workflow Options
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Automatically shrink date range to fit child activities | When ON, Campaign and Program Start/End dates auto-shrink/expand to match child Tactic dates |
| User creation default team permission | Defaults for new users — eligible approver, authorized to edit team content |
| Finance Budget Link Required on Line Item creation | Forces tactic Line Items to link to the Finance Budget |
| Allow unallocated amount in Line Item | Whether users may leave amounts unallocated when using Custom allocation |
AOP / Strategic Plans
Toggle on → an attribute "Set Plan as Strategic/AOP" appears on Plan Inspection Windows. The Filter Panel also adds three Plan View filters:
- All Plans
- Strategic / AOP Plans Only
- Exclude Strategic / AOP Plans
Useful for organizations that manage Annual Operating Plans alongside tactical plans.
Tactic Category Configuration
- Default Tactic Category — defines the default view used on Summary, Revenue, and Waterfall reports.
- Asset Caption / Promotion Caption — relabel "Asset" and "Promotion" categories across the instance to match your terminology.
Finance Budget Levels
Create and name Finance Budget levels for dashboard display grouping (e.g., by department, region, or period).
System Admin Only — Hive9 Hierarchy Naming
Rename the five hierarchy levels (Plan → Campaign → Program → Tactic → Line Item) to match your organization's terminology. CSM assists; not customer-self-service.
Application Timeout
How long an idle session lasts before auto-logout.
- Range: 10–120 minutes.
- Default: 60 minutes.
- Changes recorded in audit log.
Set under App Configurations → Application Timeout within Org Setup.
Default Search Attribute for Grids
Sets the default attribute searched in Plan Grid, Budget Grid, Calendar Grid. For example, default to ID instead of Name if your team uses IDs more often.
App Configurations → Default Search Attribute for Grids → pick → Save.
Calendar Export Configuration
Enable Plan-Grid Calendar export to ICS for Google/Outlook subscriptions. Once enabled, ICS export is available from Saved Filters only.
See How do I export a Hive9 calendar view to Google or Outlook?
Purchase Request Configuration
If your instance has the Purchase Support Module, this controls PR behavior — including whether additional lines can be added to existing PRs.
Relate Plans Configuration
Toggle on → Related Plans grid appears in Plan Inspection Windows. Allows relating plans as parent/child. Note: child entities of related plans are NOT auto-related to each other.
