Short Description Yes — Hive9 supports multiple international currencies and resolves foreign-currency transactions back to USD for unified reporting.
What this article answers
- Which currencies are available.
- How exchange rates are maintained.
- How per-user defaults work.
The short answer
Yes. Hive9 supports multiple international currencies. Foreign-currency budgets and transactions are converted to USD using exchange rates maintained in your instance.
How currency setup works
Currency configuration lives in Settings → Currency.
- A currency table controls which currencies are valid in your instance. Admins enable only the currencies your organization actually uses.
- A universal conversion table stores exchange rates. Only users with edit permissions can update rates.
- Each user can have a default currency assigned (for example, a German user defaults to EUR), set in their user profile.

How exchange rates are maintained
Admins update exchange rates in the Currency Window by selecting a currency and entering the new rate.
You can choose between:
- A single exchange rate per currency, updated periodically.
-
Monthly rates per currency, with two opt-in toggles:
- Use Monthly Actual Rates — applied to actual-cost calculations.
- Use Monthly Rates for Purchase Requests — applied to PR conversions.
Monthly rates let your finance team align Hive9's conversions with the rates your accounting system uses each period.
Adding a new currency
- Go to Settings → Currency.
- Click Add New Currency in the upper-right.
- Pick the currency from the list.
- Enter the exchange rate.
The currency immediately becomes available for selection on budgets, tactics, and purchase requests.
Removing a currency
- Go to Settings → Currency.
- Click the trash can icon on the currency row.
- Confirm the prompt.
Note that removing a currency that's in use on existing records can produce reporting gaps — discuss with your CSM before removing a currency that has historical activity.
Per-user defaults
Each user has a Currency field on their profile (Settings → Users → user). Setting this defaults their new tactics and budgets to that currency, though they can still pick another currency per-record where the workflow allows.
Common questions
Are values stored in their original currency or in USD? Both. Each record stores its original currency and amount; Hive9 also resolves it to USD using the conversion table for reporting roll-ups.
What happens if the exchange rate changes mid-year? Records continue to use the rate that was active when they were created, unless your instance is set to Monthly Actual Rates — in which case the rate for the period applies.
Can a single tactic use multiple currencies? A tactic has one currency. If you need to plan across currencies, structure your plan with multiple tactics or use the multi-currency reporting view.
