Move Target amounts between folders or budgets with a Transfer Request. Here's how to create one and what approvals it needs.
What a Transfer does
A Budget Transfer moves a Target amount from one Folder or Budget to another — for example, reallocating $50,000 from EMEA Events to NA Events mid-year because priorities shifted. The source's Target decreases by the transferred amount; the destination's increases.
Transfers are logged with a Request ID, requestor, from/to detail, request status, and the approval chain. The audit trail is preserved so you can see every reallocation that happened during the fiscal year.
Creating a Transfer Request
- Open the source Folder or Budget (where the amount is coming from).
- Open the Transfers view (menu or sidebar — exact location varies by version).
- Click New Transfer.
- Fill in:
- From — the source Folder/Budget (pre-filled).
- To — the destination Folder/Budget.
- Amount — the amount to transfer.
- Description — the reason for the transfer.
- Submit the request.
What happens after submission
Transfer Requests enter an approval workflow — see Target Transfer approval flow in Allocadia. The source and destination Targets don't actually change until the transfer is approved by all required approvers.
Direction and request type
Transfers have a direction (from source to destination) and a request type that may further classify the move (e.g. "Reallocation," "Return," "Emergency"). The specific types available on your account are configured by your admin.
Reporting on transfers
Transfer data is exposed in the BI Export API (targettransfers dataset) with Unique Request ID, Request ID, From/To info, Request Status, Requestor, Approvers, Description, Request Type, Request Direction, and Decision Date. Useful for audit, year-end reporting, or reconciliation.
