Create folders, budgets, and activity plans from the Home page. Here's where the Create actions live and what each level needs.
Where creation happens
Most hierarchy creation starts from the + New button on the Home page.
- Open Home.
- Click + New.
- Choose what to create (Folder, Budget, or Activity Plan — options vary by your account configuration).
- Fill in the required fields and save.
You can also create sub-items from inside an existing hierarchy — open the budget grid, right-click a Folder or Activity Plan, and pick the appropriate New action from the menu.
What each level needs
- Folder (top-level). Name, parent (null for top-level), and permissions. Typically used for a new fiscal year or business unit.
- Budget. Lives inside a Folder. Needs a name, parent Folder, and a single currency. All line items under this budget share that currency.
- Activity Plan. Lives inside a Budget. Needs a name and parent. Serves as an intermediate grouping — region, team, or program.
Permissions you'll need
To create at a given level, you need appropriate permissions on the parent. If the + New option is greyed out or missing, ask your admin to grant you the right role.
Copying from an existing hierarchy
If you want a new hierarchy that mirrors an existing one (e.g. a new fiscal year based on last year's structure), use the Copy action from the Home page row buttons. The copy includes the hierarchy structure and most configuration; mapped PO/Actual records do not copy.
For the annual rollover, the Uptempo team typically handles the copy and the setup of the new FY — see What changes during a fiscal-year rollover in Allocadia, and what doesn't?
