Line items live inside a Category under an Activity Plan. Here's how to add them, edit the fields that matter, and clean up.
Where line items live
Open any hierarchy from Home, drill into an Activity Plan, then into a Category or Sub-Category. The line items for that category appear in the budget grid.
Each Line Item is a specific planned spend — a tactic, program, or event — and is the level that POs and Actuals eventually map to.
Adding a line item
- Navigate to the Category where the line item belongs.
- Click + Add Line Item (or right-click → New Line Item).
- Enter a name and planned amount.
- Fill in any required custom attributes (varies by your account's configuration).
- Save.
Editing a line item
Click any cell in the budget grid to edit in place. Press Enter or Tab to save. Common edits:
- Planned amount — the total planned spend. Totals roll up automatically to the parent Category, Activity Plan, Budget, and Folder.
- Time distribution — spread the amount across months or quarters. See How time periods and allocation work in Allocadia line items.
- Custom attributes — the fields your account uses to classify spend (vendor, campaign code, GL account, etc.).
Changes save as you make them. If a change fails to save, you'll see an inline error — common causes are a required field left blank or a value outside its allowed range.
Bulk editing
Select multiple line items in the grid (Shift-click or Ctrl/Cmd-click rows), then use the bulk-action menu above the grid. Available actions depend on your account but typically include editing a shared attribute across all selected items.
For more on bulk operations, see Using the Filter Panel and bulk actions in Allocadia.
Deleting a line item
Right-click the row → Delete. Deleted line items go to the Recycle Bin and can be restored — see Recovering deleted items from the Allocadia Recycle Bin.
