How do I export a Hive9 calendar view to Google or Outlook?

Short Description You can export a Plan-Grid Calendar view to an ICS feed and subscribe to it in Google Calendar or Outlook. This article walks through the prerequisites and steps.

What this article answers

  • The prerequisite: Calendar Export must be enabled and the view must be a Saved Filter.
  • How to generate the ICS URL.
  • How to subscribe in Google and Outlook.

The short answer

Yes — Hive9 can export Plan-Grid Calendar views as ICS feeds, which Google Calendar and Outlook subscribe to and refresh automatically.

Prerequisites

Two things must be in place before you can export:

  1. Calendar Export Configuration must be enabled in your instance, in Admin → Organizational Setup → Calendar Export Configuration. If you don't see export options on your Saved Views, ask your admin to enable this.
  2. You must be working from a Saved Filter (Saved View). ICS export is only accessible from saved configurations — not from ad-hoc filters applied to the base grid.

How to export

Step 1 — Build and save your view

  1. Open the Plan Grid in Calendar view.
  2. Apply the filters you want — Year, Plan, Tactic Type, etc.
  3. Save the view (give it a memorable name).

Step 2 — Generate the ICS URL

  1. From the Saved View, open the export options.
  2. Select Export to ICS (or similar — exact wording may vary by instance).
  3. Copy the generated URL.

The URL is unique to your user and the view you saved. Don't share it publicly — it represents your view of Hive9 content.

Step 3 — Subscribe in Google Calendar

  1. Open Google Calendar.
  2. In the left sidebar, click the + next to Other calendars.
  3. Select From URL.
  4. Paste the Hive9 ICS URL.
  5. Click Add Calendar.

The Hive9 events appear as a separate calendar in your sidebar. Google refreshes the feed periodically (typically every few hours).

Step 4 — Subscribe in Outlook

  1. Open Outlook Calendar.
  2. Right-click Other Calendars → Add Calendar → From Internet.
  3. Paste the Hive9 ICS URL.
  4. Click OK.

Outlook refreshes on its own schedule, configurable in your Outlook account settings.

Refresh behavior

ICS feeds in Google and Outlook are read-only subscriptions. Changes you make in Hive9 (new tactics, date changes, new line items) appear in your calendar after the next refresh — typically minutes to hours later, depending on the client.

You can't add or edit Hive9 tactics from Google or Outlook. The flow is one-way from Hive9 to your calendar.

Common questions

Why don't I see the ICS export option on my view? Either Calendar Export Configuration isn't enabled for your instance (contact your admin), or you're viewing the grid without a Saved Filter applied (save the view first).

Can I export the same view to multiple calendar apps? Yes — use the same URL in each.

Will the feed include all tactics or just those in my filter? Just the tactics matching your saved filter. Adjust the filter, save again, and the URL reflects the new criteria.

Is the export updated in real time? No — Google and Outlook refresh ICS feeds on their own schedules, which can range from minutes to several hours.
