Hive9 navigation and menu overview

Short Description A tour of the main menu, the start screen, the Filter Panel, and the Workspace Control Panel — the four anchor points you'll use every day.

What this article answers

  • Where the main menu lives.
  • What you'll find on the start screen.
  • How the Filter Panel and Workspace Control Panel work together.

The main menu

The main menu lives along the side or top of the application (placement depends on your theme settings). It groups Hive9's features into sections, including:

  • Plan — the Plan Grid, Calendar, and views of your hierarchy.
  • Finance Budget — budget configuration, transactions, and reporting.
  • Measure — dashboards and performance reports.
  • Settings — administration (Users, Roles, Teams, Models, Integrations, Workflows, Audit Logs).
  • My Approvals — your pending approval items.

What you see depends on your role permissions. If a section is missing, your role likely doesn't grant access.

The start screen

The start screen is what you see right after logging in. It's a quick-access view of:

  • Recent plans and tactics you've worked on.
  • Pending approvals waiting for you.
  • Notifications and alerts.

You can return to the start screen at any time by clicking the Hive9 logo in the header.

The Filter Panel

The Filter Panel sits alongside grids (Plan Grid, Calendar, Budget Grid, etc.) and lets you narrow what's displayed. Filters include:

  • Standard filters — year, plan, owner, status, etc.
  • Custom attribute filters — any custom attributes configured in your instance.
  • Saved Filters / Saved Views — your stored filter combinations.

Filters are additive — selecting multiple values narrows the result set further.

The Workspace Control Panel

The Workspace Control Panel (often called the Honeycomb) sits on the Plan Grid and lets you perform bulk operations on the rows currently visible. From here you can:

  • Apply a bulk action to many tactics at once.
  • Switch between Grid and Calendar views.
  • Manage columns shown in the grid.
  • Access templates and snapshots.

See How do I use Honeycomb Bulk Actions? for the bulk-edit workflow.

My Account

Your My Account page (accessed from the header) is where you control:

  • Personal settings (default currency, date format, language).
  • Notification preferences.
  • Whether to allow admins to impersonate you for troubleshooting.

Common questions

Why are some menu items missing for me? Menu visibility is controlled by your role. Ask your admin if you need access to a section that's hidden.

Can I customize the menu? Menu structure is set at the instance level. Individual customization isn't available, but you can save Views and Filters for fast access to your most-used content.

Where do I find audit logs? Under Settings → Audit Logs. Specific logs include Finance Log, Plan Log, and Budget Audit Log.
