How do I filter the Plan Grid?

Short Description The Filter Panel narrows the Plan Grid to the tactics, programs, plans, or budgets you care about. This article covers standard filters, custom attribute filters, and Strategic/AOP filters.

What this article answers

  • How to open and use the Filter Panel.
  • The kinds of filters available.
  • How to save and reuse filter combinations.

Opening the Filter Panel

The Filter Panel sits alongside the Plan Grid. Click the filter icon (usually a funnel) in the toolbar to expand it.

Standard filters

The Filter Panel always includes standard filters, including:

  • Year — narrow to one or more fiscal years.
  • Plan — pick specific Plans.
  • Owner — filter by the object owner.
  • Status — Draft, Approved, In Approval, etc.
  • Team — limit to specific teams' content.
  • Tactic Type — for Tactic-level filtering.

You can select multiple values within a filter — selections are additive within the filter and combined with other filters via AND.

Custom attribute filters

Below the standard filters, you'll see filters for every custom attribute configured in your instance. These cover whatever your organization tracks:

  • Buyers Journey Stage
  • Region
  • Industry
  • Country
  • Brand
  • And so on.

Custom attribute filters work the same way — multi-select within, AND across.

Strategic / AOP filters

If your instance has AOP / Strategic Plans turned on, the Filter Panel adds three plan-view filters:

  • All Plans — show every plan regardless of strategic flag.
  • Strategic / AOP Plans Only — show plans flagged as strategic.
  • Exclude Strategic / AOP Plans — show all non-strategic plans.

This is useful when your AOP plans are managed separately from tactical planning.

Per-column inline filtering

In some grid configurations you can also filter by typing in a column header — the grid narrows as you type. This is good for quick lookups when you know part of a name or ID.

Saving filter combinations

Once you've built a useful filter combination, save it as a Saved View so you can return to it with one click. See How do I create and share Saved Views?

Clearing filters

To clear all filters and see everything you have permission to see:

  1. Open the Filter Panel.
  2. Click Clear All (or equivalent).
  3. The grid resets to its unfiltered state.

You can also remove individual filters by deselecting values without clearing the whole panel.

What the filter doesn't do

  • Doesn't change what you have permission to see. If your role restricts you to your team's content, the filter operates within that boundary.
  • Doesn't modify data. Filters are display-only — they don't edit, delete, or hide records permanently.

Common questions

Why can't I find a tactic I know exists? Almost always a filter is hiding it. Clear all filters and search by name. If the tactic still doesn't appear, you may not have permission to see it (role / team restriction), or it may have been deleted.

The Filter Panel doesn't highlight my active filters when I load a Saved View. This is a display nuance — the filters are applied even though the highlight is missing. See My saved filter set doesn't visually highlight which filters are applied.

Can I filter by a date range that's not a calendar year? Yes — use Start Date and End Date filters with custom ranges, or use the timeline zoom in Calendar view.

Do filters carry over between Grid and Calendar view? Yes — switching between Grid and Calendar preserves your filter selections.
